The Winter Fly/Drive Adventure travels in both southbound and northbound directions for the ground tour. Departure days and rates for each itinerary are specific to that itinerary.


 
Winter Fly Drive Adventure - Southbound Ground Tour

A Guided Round Trip Winter Journey By Air and Land Across The Arctic Circle. 

Tour Summary:

  • Fly from Fairbanks to Coldfoot, north of the Arctic Circle in the Brooks Mountain Range. The flight provides an aerial view of the vast Alaska wilderness 
  • Upon landing, ground tour south from Coldfoot on the Dalton Highway, made famous by the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, in the personalized comfort of our tour vehicles. 
  • Learn the story of Alaska's Arctic both while traveling in the tour vehicle and at the various stops along the way. 
  • View the remarkable Trans-Alaska Pipeline. 
  • Cross the Arctic Circle in ceremonious fashion and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. 
  • Witness firsthand the remarkable wilderness, which is Alaska's Arctic. 
  • Stop along the shores of the mighty Yukon River. Marvel at the majestic beauty of the northland's most famous waterway and learn of the river's storied past.
  • Visit the Arctic Circle Trading Post, situated in the rural community of Joy, Alaska.

    Departs at 1:00 pm; returns between 12:00 am and 1:30 am.

Winter Fly Drive Adventure - Northbound Ground Tour

A Guided Round Trip Winter Journey By Air and Land Across The Arctic Circle. 

Tour Summary:

  • DAY 1: Depart by ground tour north from Fairbanks and travel on the Dalton Highway, made famous by the construction of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, in the personalized comfort of our tour vehicles.
  • Learn the story of Alaska's Arctic both while traveling in the tour vehicle and at the various stops along the way. 
  • View the remarkable Trans-Alaska Pipeline.
  • Stop along the shores of the mighty Yukon River. Marvel at the majestic beauty of the northland's most famous waterway and learn of the river's storied past.
  • Cross the Arctic Circle in ceremonious fashion and receive an official Arctic Circle Adventure Certificate. 
  • Witness firsthand the remarkable wilderness, which is Alaska's Arctic. 
  • Arrive in Coldfoot Camp in the foothills of the Brooks Mountain Range.
  • Settle into your room at Coldfoot Camp for a good night's rest, periodically scan the skies outside for the northern lights on your own, or experience an optional evening Arctic Village Aurora tour at a historic cabin of Wiseman, Alaska.
  • DAY 2: Morning time free to explore or experience an optional dog mushing tour (available Dec 15 - March 31 for additional cost).
  • Late-morning to mid-afternoon, return via air from Coldfoot to Fairbanks.

    Available Saturday, Monday and Thursday September 20, 2017 - April 21, 2018
    Departs at 10:00 am on Day 1; returns between 11:30 am and 4:30 pm on Day 2.
  • WINTER 2017 - 2018 Rate: $499 - $699.  Rate will vary pending space available at the time of your reservation.

Optional Tour in Coldfoot for Northbound tour: 

  • Arctic Village Aurora: Enjoy an evening tour to historic Wiseman for a unique cabin visit and an opportunity to enjoy the solitude of the Brooks Mountain Range as you scan the northern sky for Northern Lights. Cabin visit includes complimentary hot beverages. Departs Coldfoot at 10:00 pm and returns at 2:00 am.
